About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support Airship’s growing portfolio by becoming a key member of the accounting team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the preparation and review of key financial data underlying Airship’s financial statements with a focus on revenue. This will include leading Airship’s global revenue accounting, analyzing accounting activity for multiple general ledger accounts, driving process improvements, and supporting key audit and financial reporting processes.

The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated and eager to take advantage of the tremendous opportunity for growth and leadership within this position. They are a natural problem solver, willing to adapt to a changing environment, and have a desire to drive improvement in processes to increase efficiency.

Revenue Accounting and Analysis

  • Lead all areas of revenue accounting
  • Post monthly gross margin journal entries
  • Perform account reconciliations
  • Conduct variance analyses
  • Review customer contracts to advise on revenue recognition impacts
  • Ensure proper treatment of revenue in compliance with ASC 606
  • Collaborate with sales, deal desk, billing and finance teams
  • Present monthly/quarterly analyses of various financial areas (gross margin, commissions, partner fees, marketing, sales-related taxes) to primary stakeholders that include the accounting, FP&A, and sales teams

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Assist with general ledger management
  • Support financial and tax audits
  • Assist with annual financial statement preparation

Cross-Training and Project Involvement

  • Cross-train with other team members
  • Lead and/or contribute to ad-hoc projects as needed
  • Opportunity to work with sales leaders, present process improvements and technical accounting matters to senior management
  • Future opportunities for skill growth in leadership, international operations, and business operations

Required Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting
  • 3 - 5+ years of experience in accounting, software industry is a plus, Big 4 experience preferred
  • CPA is preferred
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and revenue accounting
  • Strong understanding of the general ledger
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, previous experience with NetSuite preferred
  • Excellent collaborator with communication and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

Compensation at Airship
Airship’s compensation is determined by a variety of factors including market data, experience ladders, and geographical location. The starting salary range for this position is: $83,000 - $93,500 per year. Some roles may also be eligible for commission, bonus, competitive equity packages and other performance incentives. In addition, we also provide an extensive suite of Benefits offerings as part of our Total Rewards approach to compensation.
