At Glowforge, we help people bring home the future and make it their own. Our printer uses a laser to carve and engrave products from raw materials like wood, leather, acrylic – even cardboard. Take a look and see for yourself.
We build magical products to delight our customers, and we do it while taking care of each other. We hire people who are outstanding at what they do, who thrive in tight-knit teams, and who want to make things that make a difference.
Together, we've built a product we're incredibly proud of, and the reward has been incredible growth. We work together because we believe in the power of creativity. We believe we can bring about a future where anyone can print anything.
We'd love to have you join us!
This is a full-time role in Seattle, and we are happy to help new employees relocate to this beautiful city.
Why We Need You
One day there will be a world where any person, with the push of a button, can print anything they imagine. But for that world to exist we need a development engine that can take break-through ideas and turn them into an ecosystem of devices enabling that future.
This is your opportunity. Come build and run the most innovative, scalable, collaborative, hardware development engine imaginable. Together we will realize the vision of a Glowforge in every home!
Here’s what you’ll be doing
Taking bold ideas like "every home should be able to manufacture what they need" and "let's put powerful lasers in people's homes" only happens if we have the right balance between minds willing to explore the impossible and a development machine that delivers on those impossible ideas. Your job is to help us develop and run that machine.
And you won’t do it alone. You’ll hire and develop a team of amazing electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and engineering product managers. You’ll supplement them with talent from strategic partners, and collaborate deeply with internal teams to deliver breakthrough products that continue to transform the world of Making-at-home.
Are you someone who can think not just about the current product but also about the ecosystem of products around it and the next generation of products after that? If so, come help us execute on the company's product roadmap.
We see this role as being a transformational role for the company. You’ll be reporting to the cofounder and CTO, and you will be called on to work closely with the company leadership while providing your team technical guidance and mentorship at all levels.

You need these qualifications:

  • You’ve led multiple product development cycles and delivered high volume consumer products into the market
  • You have 15+ years of experience in product engineering and 10+ years leading development teams
  • You have been a key member of executive teams
  • People who have worked for you say you’re one of the greatest managers they’ve ever worked for, and would leave their jobs to work for you again
  • You are an empathetic communicator who connects easily with people of all different backgrounds, skills, roles, and perspectives
  • You have previously worked in companies going through rapid growth

It would be nice if you have…

  • Held leadership roles at both startups and big companies
  • A burning desire to get a Glowforge of your very own!
We love cover letters. We read them before the resume. Please tell us about a product that you worked on that you’re proud of, and what contribution you made that you’re most excited about.
In your cover letter, in addition to whatever you’d like to say, please tell us about the product or feature you’re most proud of in your portfolio. What about it makes you grin from ear to ear?
There's one more very important thing. We are an equal opportunity employer. We search for amazing people with a diverse set of backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives. We take care of each other to create an inclusive work environment where we love to come to work every day. We'd be happy to provide reasonable accommodations to help you apply - just email us at jobs@glowforge.com. We'd love to have you join us.
