The AOI Operator is a skilled and experienced professional responsible for operating and overseeing Automated Optical Inspection systems used in manufacturing processes. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in AOI equipment, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of inspections. The AOI Operator plays a pivotal role in maintaining quality standards and assisting in the training and development of junior AOI operators.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. AOI Machine Operation:
  • Set up and configure AOI equipment for production runs.
  • Operate AOI machines to inspect electronic and mechanical components during manufacturing.
  • Monitor real-time inspection results and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate defect detection.
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Perform in-depth inspections to identify defects, anomalies, and inconsistencies in components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and maintain inspection standards.
  • Assist in analyzing inspection data and providing feedback to improve product quality.
  1. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
  • Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of AOI equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues to minimize machine downtime and maintain inspection accuracy.
  1. Training and Support:
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior AOI operators on equipment operation, inspection techniques, and quality standards.
  • Offer technical support and guidance during production runs.
  1. Documentation:
  • Maintain comprehensive records of inspection results, equipment maintenance, and process changes.
  • Generate reports detailing inspection outcomes and any deviations from established standards.
  1. Process Improvement:
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of AOI inspections.
  • Suggest and implement enhancements to inspection programs and procedures.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure AOI equipment complies with all safety regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the team.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Several years of experience as an AOI operator, demonstrating proficiency in operating AOI equipment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of automated optical inspection systems and software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of electronics and manufacturing processes is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing production needs.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills for guiding junior operators.

The AOI Operator plays a vital role in upholding the quality standards of the manufacturing process by ensuring the accurate and effective inspection of components and assemblies. This role also involves contributing to process improvements and providing guidance and support to junior team members, ultimately contributing to the delivery of high-quality products to customers.
