What We Do
The Maps SDK team builds the public library that powers our mobile maps. Customers of our SDK include apps on Flutter, Android and iOS, small and large. We work with devices of all shapes and forms, from the latest flagship phone to tablets, laptops, smartwatches, HMD, and embedded boards. Our developers build apps, games and navigation experiences that top the App Store and Play Store rankings, and we are constantly working together to help them build what’s next, whether that’s an Augmented Reality game, a popular consumer app, or an autonomous driving experience.
What You'll Do
Develop the web platform support layer for the Mapbox Maps Flutter SDK, with the opportunity to dive into iOS and Android platforms support.
Be responsible for feature development in SDK and application layers;
Enhance the performance, stability, and simplicity of our products;
Work on the latest technologies, including Dart;
Working closely with iOS, Android, and web teams on system design and feature parity;
Manage testing pipeline and release artifacts;
Provide comprehensive documentation developers will find easy to follow;
Review code and design documents, shepherd feature releases.
What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
Strong proficiency in Dart and JavaScript with 3+ years of experience;
Strong experience with browser technologies and web platform APIs;
Performance optimization in browser environments (profiling, debugging perf bottlenecks)
Understanding of browser rendering pipeline and compositing
Understanding of browser concurrency constraints (single-threaded rendering, offloading work via Web Workers / Dart isolates, async patterns)
Deferred loading and bundle optimization strategies for web apps (Dart deferred imports, tree shaking, WASM compilation)
Cross-browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) testing;
Desire to build frameworks with robust iterative improvements to API;
Understanding the customer feedback loop and driving it to the highest standard;
Being excellent team player with the ability to work within a collaborative environment;
Desire to learn and to teach;
Passion about programming and having a strong focus on performance aspects;
Implementation of automated testing and CI pipelines (e.g. CircleCI and GitHub Actions);
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git;
Familiarity with or a desire to learn more about C++ is a plus;
Experience building SDKs or working cross-platform in any language is a plus.

Our annual compensation for this role ranges from $63 000 - $102 000 (salaries are in USD). Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role).
