About the Job

The People Operations Generalist demonstrates a broad knowledge of human resources functions and employment laws and is responsible for helping administer and implement various human resources activities, policies, and programs. This role participates in a wide range of HR functions to deliver maximum value to the People Team and organization.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Partner with the People Team to facilitate timely and compliant onboarding and offboarding.
  • Benefits administration: employee enrollment and questions, support open enrollment changes and communication, assist with claims resolution, maintain and set up carrier feeds with our HRIS, audit benefit bills on a monthly basis, 1095c generation and distribution.
  • Support the company’s annual employee wellness program.
  • Manage employee leave of absence process, including short term disability conversations, sending statutory FMLA notices, and maintaining leave of absence tracking for payroll.
  • Support legal compliance, following statutory federal and state employment guidelines including filing the EEO1 annually.
  • Manage all immigration and visa issues for the organization and partner with legal counsel as needed.
  • Support Sovrn’s international locations (UK and Switzerland), serving as a key contact for compensation, benefits and compliance matters.
  • Assist with the company’s compensation philosophy, benchmarking and merit processes.
  • Execute special projects, including potential acquisition activities, as needed.
  • Help implement HR systems and assist with HR system questions and issues.
  • Respond to unemployment claims.
  • Partner with the entire People Team on employee engagement initiatives.

About You

You are meticulous. Being organized and detail oriented is your lifeblood. You like working hard and take pride in your work. You enjoy being on a supportive and collaborative team and you are an excellent communicator. No job is too small. Numbers and excel spreadsheets make you tick, and you enjoy building relationships with your coworkers. The successful candidate will be skilled in areas such as benefits administration, immigration compliance, federal and state HR laws/regulations and compliance, HRIS administration, on-boarding, off-boarding, unemployment insurance processes and employee engagement initiatives.

The successful candidate will have:

  • 4+ years of Human Resources related experience as a generalist in people operations.
  • 2+ years experience administering or supporting benefits programs.
  • Experience with global mobility and immigration programs, benefits administration, onboarding and offboarding and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Experience with Google suite, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS platforms and ability to learn new technology as needed.
  • Superb organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and deadline-driven.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work with highly sensitive data and information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, an approachable style and the ability to manage complex relationships and difficult conversations.
  • Ability to work independently and be proactive in identifying opportunities and recommending solutions.
  • Ability to organize, balance, and effectively prioritize various tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn about all aspects of People Operations and support the team as needed.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in a technology-based growth company is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the online publishing (media) industry.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.

Compensation and Benefits

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate compensation range for this role in Boulder, Colorado is $75,000 to $85,000, including base salary and any related bonuses or commissions. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. Sovrn offers a full slate of benefits from competitive salaries, stock options, medical, dental and vision coverage, short and long term disability, life insurance, 11 paid holidays, flexible vacation, commuter benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, and a paid parental leave program.
