Alation is seeking a Senior Manager of Sales Commission and Operations. They will lead the sales incentive compensation team at Alation and work collaboratively with Total Rewards and Sales Operations to operationalize variable compensation plans for a global workforce.
They will maintain and ensure the accuracy of the incentive compensation tool, as well as support commission plan design, and field questions on commission payouts from employees on variable compensation plans.
This role will require an analytical skill set used to draw insights from large amounts of data, a high degree of attention to detail to ensure commission payouts are processed accurately and on time, and the ability to work directly with business partners to drive changes in processes as we scale.

What You'll Do:

  • Support the annual compensation planning design cycle from design-to-deployment for all teams on variable incentive plans across all sales organizations at Alation
  • Complete user acceptance testing for calculation logic, data tables, and reporting in the incentive compensation system and related CRM and revenue tools/dashboards
  • Identify opportunities for process or systems automation and work with business partners to bring these ideas to life.
  • Maintain the systems, process, and data that drives the sales incentive plans for a large sales organization
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of sales incentive payments (commissions) to the sales organization
  • Provide support for cross-functional compensation-related inquiries and requests
  • Create and maintain documentation for sales compensation processes

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years experience in commission calculation, Sales Finance, Sales Analytics, and/or Sales Operations
  • Analytical and modeling experience
  • Demonstrated problem-solving experience, and the ability to communicate findings
  • Excel experience (e.g. experience consolidating and joining data, creating formulas, macro development)
  • PowerPoint experience in creating decks for management

What You Must Have:

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
  • Experience with compensation software. Xactly is a plus.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in multi-taskingUnderstanding of corporate finance concepts
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and driving initiatives in a cross-functional environment
  • Familiarity with incentive plan structures, SaaS incentive plans, quotas, accelerators, pay mix, leverage points, and industry-standard benchmarks
  • Exceptional quantitative analysis skills and advanced Excel proficiency
The base salary range is specific to the United States. The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, work location, specialty and training. If the final candidate has a different level of experience, the base salary target range may be lower or higher than what is published.
