About the Job:

The mission of the Backend Website Developer is to enhance website performance, driving conversions, and delivering an exceptional user experience. A strong grasp of user behavior and proficiency in GA4 are valuable assets. The incumbent of this role demonstrates to bring to the table profound knowledge of PHP and a history of maintaining and innovating WordPress plugins and themes and will be responsible for the ongoing development and optimization of the WordPress-based Vendasta website.

Your Impact:

Development & Integration:

• Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress plugins and themes.
• Build custom WordPress solutions from scratch and enhance existing ones.
• Ensure seamless integration between WordPress and other services, working closely with R&D teams.
• Implement and manage programmatic workflows for content development in collaboration with the SEO team.

Website Optimization:

• Regularly update and maintain WordPress installations, plugins, and themes.
• Monitor website performance and implement enhancements to optimize speed, responsiveness, and conversions.
• Evaluate code, plugins, and integrations to maintain security and performance best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve WordPress-related issues in a timely manner.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with front-end developers to ensure system cohesiveness.
• Partner with internal teams, including SEO, analytics, and product teams, to align development goals with business needs.

Data-Driven Insights:

• Leverage tools like GA4 and Google Tag Manager to track, analyze, and understand user behavior.
• Use analytics insights to drive qualified traffic and optimize the website for conversions.

Continuous Learning & Innovation:

• Stay up-to-date with the latest WordPress development trends and best practices.
• Explore new tools, techniques, and strategies to enhance website performance and user experience.

What you bring to the table:

• At least 5+ years of professional experience in back-end development, with significant expertise in PHP and WordPress.
• Owner mindset, taking full ownership of website performance, being proactive in identifying and solving problems, and demonstrating strong communication skills for effective collaboration.
• Strong experience in developing custom WordPress plugins and themes.
• Proficient in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Familiar with WordPress standards and functionality.
• Ability to write clean, understandable, and well-documented code.
• Experience with debugging tools and performance optimization.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and other departments.
• Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical skills.
• Experience with GA4 & Google Tag Manager
• Experience with advanced PHP frameworks like Laravel or Symfony.
• Experience with RESTful API integration.
• Familiarity with front-end development for potential full-stack contributions.
• Knowledge of SEO principles and their implementation in WordPress.
• Familiarity with GA4 to analyze user behavior and make data-driven website optimizations.
