As a Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of WHOOP's financial operations. You will be responsible for critical areas of the close process, including fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, expense management, and balance sheet reconciliations. Unlike many traditional accounting positions, this role offers broad exposure across the organization through partnerships with Marketing, Manufacturing, Legal, Operations, R&D, and Finance teams. The successful candidate will gain a deep understanding of WHOOP's business operations while helping drive accurate financial reporting and scalable processes.

This role is based in Boston, MA. Candidates must be willing to relocate, if necessary, to work from our Boston office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own key balance sheet accounts and support the month-end close process through the preparation of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and monthly fluctuation analyses, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial results.
- Lead the monthly marketing accrual process, collaborating directly with Marketing stakeholders to understand campaign performance, strategic initiatives, agency relationships, and partnerships with high-profile athletes, influencers, and brand ambassadors.
- Serve as the lead for fixed asset accounting, partnering closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to support capital expenditure initiatives, asset placements, transfers, and disposals in alignment with operational plans.
- Manage and review prepaid expense accounting, including evaluating significant vendor contracts, determining appropriate accounting treatment, and ensuring accurate amortization over the benefit period.
- Act as a key stakeholder in company-wide expense management processes, helping ensure accurate reporting, policy compliance, and scalable controls.
- Support annual audits and quarterly reviews by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Contribute to process improvement and finance transformation initiatives by implementing scalable workflows, supporting system implementations, and leveraging automation and AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and strengthen controls.
- Collaborate with Accounting leadership to establish best practices and build scalable processes that support WHOOP's continued growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in public accounting and/or a high-growth technology, consumer products, or health tech environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and operational accounting principles.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, or comparable ERP system preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear conclusions and recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
