Location

This full-time position is based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to conduct frequent meetings with U.S. Government entities. The newly hired government affairs leader will begin as work from home and the person selected will be expected to do the work to establish a DC-based Infleqtion office and scale it over time. Additionally, we will consider candidates in the Austin, TX metro area.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Senior Director/Vice President of Government Affairs will be responsible for developing and implementing corporate policy through strategic partnerships and liaising with government and industry groups aligning with business objectives. The newly hired person will be expected to work with the Infleqtion team to set U.S. Government affairs strategy and execute on that strategy by conducting policy outreach and briefings, providing written feedback and testimony to Congressional committees and government agencies, and providing thought leadership and recommendations on quantum, dual-use technology.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all the following duties. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

  • Design government engagement strategy and execute on that strategy via high pace of meetings and correspondence with government officials
  • Lead the drafting and circulation of position papers and provide policy briefings, presentations, and legislative testimony for pending legislative actions based on extensive engagement across the company, industry, and with government entities and policymakers
  • Identify, engage, and execute MOUs and joint statements with strategic partners in government and industry that advances company and industry objectives
  • Implement public policy activities, conduct government and industry lobbying efforts, advocate for government funding initiatives, and identify new opportunities to advance company objectives with limited oversight based on extensive experience engaging US policymakers and US government agencies
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategic government and policy objectives are aligned with business operations

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in directly related field (Business, Finance, Accounting). MBA (or other related master’s degree) preferred
  • Minimum of ten years professional experience in U.S. Government agencies or on Capitol Hill, including senior level, strategic role(s).
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and vendors
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively share information with technical and non-technical staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, team-oriented, and matrixed environment
  • Entrepreneurial drive, intellectual agility, and personal eagerness to develop with the needs of the business
  • Self-motivated, energetic individuals with strong problem-solving and technical skills who don’t wait to be told what to do but go out and do it
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new and complex topics quickly
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to thrive and produce results in a fluid, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
  • An open mind, willingness to learn, admit mistakes, change course when necessary, and tackle hard problems, sometimes under tight deadlines amid ambiguity
  • Strong EQ skills to engage with teammates and high levels of judgment and discretion to know what to brief, how to brief it, and when
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to travel domestically and (potentially) internationally up to 30%
