Position Summary
Infleqtion UK is seeking a dedicated Software Engineer to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in the pursuit of advancing quantum technologies beyond the confines of the laboratory and into practical, real-world applications. As a member of our team, you will leverage your expertise to design and implement software solutions for user interfaces and automated protocols, enabling seamless interaction with Infleqtion's cutting-edge quantum products. This role necessitates a robust skill set and a proven track record of working within a dynamic team of engineers and scientists, thriving in a fast-paced environment. Your analytical and problem-solving acumen will be pivotal in shaping, implementing, and operating atom-based quantum technologies, including inertial navigation systems, radiofrequency sensors, and atomic clocks. This position is primarily based on-site in Oxfordshire, UK.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop intuitive Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) for user interactions with sophisticated scientific instruments and hardware
- Implement communication protocols to interface with a wide array of remote peripherals, including RS232, GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and more
- Create high-level system protocols for the safe control and monitoring of scientific instruments
- Provide comprehensive support to users through regular training, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and bug fixing
- Implement robust logging and continuous monitoring of instrument status
- Contribute to defining the software roadmap and explore technologies for future product development
- Uphold a professional software codebase and oversee product lifecycle management within a Git-based software development platform
- Manage technical priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Substantial experience in software development within a commercial or research setting
- Proven expertise in developing GUI software applications for scientific instruments using languages such as Python, C#, or other high-level programming languages
- Proficiency in developing software interfaces for hardware peripherals and systems
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with scientists and engineers to implement tailored user interfaces
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with loosely defined requirements
- Proficiency in software development using version control workflows, especially Git
- Proficiency in implementing communication protocols with hardware using information from manuals and embedded system source code
- Ability to develop applications on both Windows and Linux platforms
- Experience in developing user interfaces with PyQt
- Familiarity with instrument interfacing using VISA, SCIPY, COM, MQ etc
- Experience in building software from the ground up
- Ability to develop solutions in Linux and Windows.
- Proficiency in Linux device driver implementation.
