Location
This position is a full-time, office-based position which will be located in our Boulder, Colorado office.
Position Summary
As part of our production area, the newly hired assembly tech is responsible for assembling sub-component products which will contribute to final product assembly. This role requires good manual dexterity, ability to conduct visual inspections, understanding of mechanical/engineering equipment, and commitment to follow all safety processes.

The targeted hourly rate for this position is $30.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on level and plus eligibility to participate in our annual incentive plan.

- Assembles, calibrates, and tests high precision products and subassemblies using instructions, engineering documents or verbal directions
- Assists, troubleshoots, and diagnoses products and assemblies for repair and/or yield
- Trains other team members in production processes and procedures
- Maintains and follows documents to ensure accurate process flow, performance, safety, and control
- Develops a technical working knowledge of products to provide technical assistance
- Performs preventative maintenance, set-up of equipment and housekeeping activities
- Collaborates with personnel to effectively meet customer expectations or on the improvement and development of new products
- Supports creation of process documentation
- Ensures that products and accessories progress efficiently
- Inspects components, products, assemblies, and processes to meet quality standards and performance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- For a Level I: Associates degree in a technical field, along with prior experience in optics, laser, or similar field.
- For a Level II: Associates degree in a technical field and two years of prior assembly experience in optics, lasers, or a similar field
- For a Level III: Associates degree in a technical field and five years of prior assembly experience in optics, lasers, or a similar field
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Capable of interpreting and assembling products from written instructions, drawings, diagrams, or verbal directions
- Good physical dexterity to assemble and package small and delicate components
- Experience with inspection and GD&T a plus
- Experience as Engineering Technician is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to effectively share information with technical and non-technical staff
- Demonstrated ability to learn new and complex topics quickly
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with all levels of an organization; Professional-level communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, and team-oriented environment
- Desire and demonstrated ability to thrive and produce results in a fluid, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
- Passion for solving complex problems and challenges in a highly technical and scientific environment
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to lift as much as 25 pounds
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- This role requires that you do not require sponsorship or a work visa transfer
