Associate Fabrication Engineer

Working in our production area, this role will be responsible for assembling sub-components, sub-systems and complete products in Infleqtion’s commercial product line and the production of development and commercial prototypes. This role requires good manual dexterity, ability to conduct visual inspections, understanding of mechanical, electrical, and optical engineering equipment, and commitment to follow all safety processes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Independently build and integrate complex optical, vacuum, mechanical, and electrical hardware with minimal instruction.
- Develop, refine, and document assembly processes, work instructions, and SOPs in collaboration with engineers.
- Lead by example in maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality.
- Create and review technical solid models and drawings
- Lead design reviews and incorporate remarks into drawing revisions
- Develop inspection methods and create inspection forms for custom parts
- Support product and part management, including creating ECOs for products
- Conduct inspection throughout manufacturing processes to ensure proper build and that quality standards are achieved
- Perform receiving and in-process inspections of mechanical, electrical and optical components and subassemblies using a variety of instruments
- Perform maintenance and housekeeping activities to ensure a clean and safe work area
- Support production line maintenance, continuous improvement, and troubleshooting
- Identifies and works with other team members on process improvements
- Other duties or projects as assigned
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in precision hardware assembly (optics, vacuum, or high-reliability electromechanical systems)
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related fields
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with incomplete instructions, leveraging engineering drawings, models, and prior experience.
- Experience with handling of delicate components and equipment, including precision optics, semi-conductor, and fiber optic components
- Experience training and mentoring others in technical assembly or inspection.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality principles (inspection, GD&T, traceability, process documentation).
- Comfortable balancing hands-on fabrication with process improvement and knowledge transfer.
- Comfort and familiarity with standard clean room practices and working in clean rooms
- Familiarity with optical surface quality specifications: MIL-PRF-13830B and ISO 10110-7
- Good dexterity to assemble small components into sub-assemblies
- Familiarity with optical inspection methodologies, including the use of microscopes, optical comparators, and optical interferometer
- Experience with basic electronics test and assembly practices, including soldering, PCBA inspection and use of multi meters, oscilloscopes,
- Ability to inspect parts against technical drawings. Familiarity with GD&T tolerancing is highly desirable

TRAVEL
Up to 15% travel may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work will normally be performed in an office and laboratory environment and around technical equipment including computers and lasers. Able to sit, stand, bend, lift and carry up to 40 pounds without assistance. Able to efficiently use automated office equipment such as laptops, copiers, and printers; able to effectively engage in communications (via phone, computer, or in-person). Any required Personal Protective Equipment will be provided and must be properly used in accordance with company requirements.
The targeted salary range for this role is $70,000 to $95,000 on an annualized basis plus eligibility to participate in our annual incentive plan.
